Pair of 40" Tall Thai Temple Guardian Lions

Used to frighten away the hungry ghost of Thai legend, these almost life size lions stand 40 inches tall, and are hand cast in bronze by Thai artists. The lion's body is finished in black, and his chest plate, mane, face, and teeth are all polished natural bronze. The chest plate features a traditional Thai design from the Rama 1 period. The lions are modeled from the original pairs of bronze lions which guard the entrances to the Ubosoth (Temple) of the Emerald Buddha in the Kingdom of Thailand.
